Do I need to prime beforehand? What about bleed through? With Dixie Belle's paint you do not need to prime your work beforehand, you can paint straight onto your project. However, if you are worried that you might experience some bleed through you can always use Dixie Belle's BOSS which is applied just as you would a primer. It can also be applied during coats of paint if you experience any unexpected bleed-through.
What is the coverage like? Dixie Belle Paint is very thick and a little goes a long way. The longer the lid stays off, the thicker the paint will get. If you would like it thinner, no problem, just add a little water and stir. Oops I've added too much water? No problem, just leave the lid off and it will thicken up. Whatever consistency you desire, Dixie Belle's Paint will work for you.
Can I paint straight onto a glossy piece of furniture? Yes you can! whilst you would normally sand gloss off your piece prior to painting, to save you time and money, you can use Dixie Belle's problem solver Slick Stick without having to remove any gloss. To ensure a strong bond between the paint and your furniture just apply Slick Stick before using Dixie Belle's Chalk Mineral paint, easy!
How many coats do I need for full coverage? Most pieces will take one to two coats for full coverage. Sometimes, after the first coat dries it may look blotchy. Don't panic! After the second coat, it will blend together and look beautiful. Dixie Belle's paint is quick drying and usually touch dry in no time. However, a waiting period of one hour between coats is advised.
